The Native Women’s Association of Canada has designated October 4, 2012 as the national day of remembrance to acknowledge over 582 missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls in Canada.
In solidarity, the London and Middlesex Coordinating Committees to End Violence Against Women are supporting the annual Sisters in Spirit vigil. We will come together to acknowledge this national tragedy and to honour the families who have inspired the movement. People in more than 100 communities across Canada will add their voices this year to say; “IT MATTERS TO US!”
Please join us as we walk from Atlohsa Native Family Healing Services (343 Richmond Street) to My Sister’s Place (566 Dundas Street) on Thursday October 4, 2012. We will gather at Atlohsa at 1:00 pm to hear inspirational remarks from local leaders and then walk together along Dundas Street to My Sister’s Place. Everyone is welcome!
